2020 NFL Draft props: Sharp bets moving the odds by Patrick Everson of Covers

NFL Draft betting is one of the most popular wagers during the sports shutdown. NFL Draft prop odds have been on the board since March 20 at Circa Sports in Las Vegas, where they’ve taken substanial sharp bets on a few draft markets. ‘I have never booked the NFL Draft before, so this is uncharted territory for me,’ Circa sportsbook manager Chris Bennett told Covers.

NFL MVP bettors look for next Lamar Jackson jackpot by Todd Dewey of Las Vegas Review-Journal

“Three bettors at the Westgate sportsbook turned $50 into $10,000 when the Ravens quarterback earned MVP honors and a bettor at Circa Sports cashed a large ticket on Jackson at 125-1 odds. ‘That was the result of basically one person having an opinion that turned out to be very sharp,’ Circa sportsbook manager Chris Bennett said. ‘That’s part of booking futures in general. You’re going to have things open up at 50-1 or higher that win from time to time.’ Circa has posted 2020 NFL MVP odds on 87 players, ranging from 5-1 on favorite Patrick Mahomes to 500-1 on eight wide receivers and Eagles tight end Zach Ertz.

Tua Tagovailoa’s draft stock drops dramatically at Las Vegas books by Todd Dewey of Las Vegas Review-Journal

“At Circa Sports, Herbert and Tua have the same draft position of 5½. Herbert was a slight favorite to be picked before Tua before money came in Saturday on the Hawaiian to go under 5½ (-115). ‘The sharpest plays have been anti-Tua from a few days ago,’ Circa sportsbook manager Chris Bennett said Saturday afternoon. ‘The market was 3½, -110. Now it’s just gone nuts. Almost every bet we’ve taken the last several days on Tua has been against him. ‘There’s all this negativity and skepticism regarding Tua’s injuries and his ability to stay healthy as an NFL player.’

“Derek Stevens, owner of the Golden Gate and D casinos in downtown Las Vegas, launched his own sports betting operation, Circa Sports, last June 1 and had a very successful debut with 1,875 entries at $1,000 apiece. They opened Circa Sports Million II on March 6 this year with many predicting around 2,500 entries and perhaps more as Stevens was again guaranteeing a $1 million first-place prize … In addition, Stevens launched a $1 million guarantee for the inaugural Circa Survivor (pick one winner each week of the NFL season, can’t pick same team twice).
