Summer officially arrived on June 21st and the season brings an abundance of visitors looking for the hottest upcoming events in Las Vegas. While it comes as no surprise that the Entertainment Capital of the World hosts endless activities to keep visitors and locals busy year round, summer in Las Vegas is unlike any other season. As the temperatures heat up, so do its events.

Whether you are looking for summer concerts, pool parties, or a sporting event, we’ll share the best events in Las Vegas this summer.

 

Upcoming Events in Las Vegas: July

Temperatures peak in July, with an average high of 106°. The good news is foot traffic tends to slow down, other than during the 4th of July weekend (if you’re coming to Vegas then, book your room now!). The bad news is that July is monsoon season and flash floods can occur, although The Strip and Downtown are usually unaffected.

 

Concerts

  • July 4: Billy Ray Cyrus
    “Achy Breaky Heart” singer and country music icon Billy Ray Cyrus joins Fremont Street’s free concert series at 7:30 p.m. Did we mention that it’s free?
  • July 14: The Cult
    See the ‘80s British rock band perform for free at the Fremont Street free concert series at 9 p.m.
  • July 21: Eddie Money and Jefferson Starship
    Belt out your old favorites! These two concerts take place on two different stages: Jefferson Starship takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. on the 1st Street stage, Eddie Money starts at 9 p.m. on the 3rd Street stage.
  • July 25, 27 & 28: Bruno Mars
    R&B sensation Bruno Mars returns to MGM’s new Park Theater.

 

Comedy Shows

  • July 20: Jim Gaffigan
    Stand up comedian Jim Gaffigan cracks jokes about fatherhood and food at Caesar’s Palace.
  • July 28: Tim Allen
    Sitcom legend Tim Allen is dealing out laughs at the Mirage’s Terry Fator Theater.

Sporting Events

  • The World Series of Poker: If you’re a poker enthusiast or are interested in watching some of the best gamblers in the world test their luck, then head to​ Rio ​for ​The World Series of Poker. ​ The top players come to the WSOP in pursuit of winning a gold bracelet, so pack your bags and put your poker face on from July 2-14.
  • NBA Summer League: The brightest young talent in professional basketball heads to Las Vegas this summer from July 6-16 to compete in a championship tournament. If you’re an​ NBA fan, head to the Thomas & Mack Center to get a closer look at the younger players you don’t usually get to watch during the regular season.

Upcoming Events in Las Vegas: August

While temperatures may only slightly cool down in August (with an average high of 104°), it’s a good time to head to Sin City before the Labor Day weekend crowds and cooler days begin. August can be a great time to score Las Vegas flight and hotel deals.

  • August 4: Shania Twain
    90s country music artist, Shania Twain sings for one night only at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
  • August 15, 17, 18, 22, 24, 25: Reba and Brooks & Dunn
    Country music legends Reba and Brooks & Dunn return to Vegas to perform for five nights at Caesar’s Palace.
  • August 12: Charlie Puth & Hailee Steinfeld
    Live at the Pearl Concert Theater, pop artists Charlie Puth and Hailee Steinfeld perform their favorite hits.
  • August 15, 17, 18, 21, 24, 25, 28: Lionel Richie
    Lionel Richie performs “All Night Long” in Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood.

Conventions

  • MAGIC Convention: The world’s largest fashion marketplace, MAGIC, takes place August 13-15. 85,000 attendees are expected to be in town to see the latest trends in apparel, footwear, accessories, and manufacturing. Trendsetters from all over the country head to Las Vegas to fuel the business of fashion.
  • Def Con 26: Calling all coders, techies, and hackers! One of the oldest continuously running and largest hacker conventions, Def Con 26​, takes place August 9-12. Geek out over the latest and greatest at Caesar’s Palace & Flamingo Las Vegas.

Upcoming Events in Las Vegas: September

Las Vegas starts to cool down in September but prices tend to go back up. We suggest booking early for travel to Las Vegas in September, especially if you’re coming over Labor Day weekend. Here are some event highlights for what’s going on in Vegas this September.

  • September 1: Shakira
    MGM Grand Garden Arena is the Colombian pop star’s Las Vegas stop on her El Dorado World Tour.
  • September 8: Journey & Def Leppard

  • September 21-23: Life is Beautiful Festival
    Life is Beautiful is an annual music, culinary, and art festival held in Downtown Las Vegas. Year after year the festival features unforgettable headlining musicians, visual artists who add installations to Downtown Las Vegas’ collection of murals, and thought-provoking speakers. The 2018 lineup includes Arcade Fire, Florence and the Machine, The Weeknd, and many more!
  • September 21-22: The iHeartRadio Music Festival
    iHeartRadio Music Festival closes out the Las Vegas summer and hosts the biggest names in music across the globe. This two-day event features iconic performances from artists at the top of the pop, country, dance, rock and hip hop charts across two stages.

Sports Events

  • NASCAR Camping World Truck Series takes place September 14 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is a pickup truck racing series owned and operated by the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, and is the only series in all of NASCAR to race modified production pickup trucks.
  • Las Vegas 51s Baseball: Let’s play ball September 1-3! The Las Vegas 51s is a minor league baseball team which holds its games at Cashman Field, located just minutes from Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas and only a few miles north of the Strip.
